Alison Knezevich reports that the partisan attempt to bring avoid the committee consideration of the so-called "Marriage Protection Amendment" failed. A front page article in the State Journal by Gretchen Stone makes the business case for the Employment Non-Discrimination Bill, SB 238. Back in February, the CEO of West Virginia Media, the State Journal's parent company, wrote an editorial making it clear that the marriage amendment was "political horse rubbish that takes our attention away from making West Virginia the absolute best it can be. "
The Employment & Housing Non-Discrimination Act (EHNDA), Senate Bill 238, made its way over to the House, where it was referred to the Judiciary Committee.

The WV Senate has just passed SB 238, legislation ending discrimination in employment and housing based on sexual orientation. This is a huge step forward.
